November 2007

Dear Friend,

I am writing to invite you to make a contribution to our 2007 fund drive for peripheral neuropathy. Your donation will bring hope through caring and education to over 500,000 people in Northern California suffering from peripheral neuropathy (PN). IT MAY BE THE MOST COMMON DISEASE YOU’VE NEVER HEARD OF.  An estimated 2 million California residents suffer from this disease.

Neuropathy is a painful, debilitating disease caused by damage to the peripheral nerves that come from the spinal column and connect to the skin, muscles, and internal organs.

Red Banes“Thank goodness for this group! I was diagnosed with PN and given pills on a hit and miss trial basis. My doctors were helpful, but I was depressed and alone. I read about a 2-day seminar in the newspaper put on by the Northern California Chapter Neuropathy Association at a local church. I called the number in the newspaper and talked with another PNer named Martha Chandley who immediately made me feel I was not on my own. I attended the event and their support groups to find there ARE answers and I was not ALONE! Please join me in expanding our mission with a generous donation to help other Neuropathy sufferers in our community.”  —D.E. "Red" Banes, Sacramento

The Northern California Chapter of the Neuropathy Association (NCCNA) is an all-volunteer, non-profit, tax-exempt corporation. We have 32 support groups and 450 members throughout Northern California.

Marsha Campbell
“I am so grateful to NCCNA for giving me a support group that understands my pain, and is searching for a cure.  As a group leader, NCCNA has provided a local (Reno) venue for me to help others in my area.  With our dedicated leaders and your generous donations, we will find a cure!!”
—Marsha Campbell, Leader, Reno, NV, PN Support Group

Mike Colozzi
“The NCCNA compiles and disseminates much needed information about Neuropathy and the challenges we must face everyday.  This information given to our support groups is immeasurably helpful to our members and greatly appreciated.  We all seek answers and the NCCNA helps find them.”
—Michael Colozzi, Leader, Elk Grove PN Support Group

“My mother [Eppi Donald, left] has indicated that NCCNA has provided a forum for her to have a support group locally that she looks forward to attending monthly.  It provides an opportunity to share her thoughts about her Neuropathy and give support to others.

Nancy Escudero and Eppi DonaldNCCNA has given me the privilege of knowing special people like Bev Anderson our NCCNA President and Martha Chandley who suffer from Neuropathy yet have such motivation to help so many.  I am constantly learning about Neuropathy and have met many wonderful people through our local support group in Yuba City, CA.  It's wonderful to have a group of people come together to share their feelings and support each other.”

—Nancy Escudero  and Eppi Donald, Leaders, Yuba City PN Support Group

Your gift will help us reach the following goals for 2008-09:

“Now that I have friends who have been diagnosed with neuropathy, I have become much more aware of the ravages of this disease.  Based on my own experience with MS, I know just how important it is to have the support of people who understand your situation and who can offer support.  I urge your support of the NCCNA so they can continue to offer hope and help to those who suffer with this misunderstood disease.”
